Kjerulf Ainsworth Resists Novomatic’s Expanding Control Over ATG

(AsiaGameHub) -   Australian gambling firm Novomatic, which holds a majority stake in Australian slot machine provider Ainsworth Game Technology (AGT), appears to be seeking to restrict the takeover capabilities of minority stakeholders. However, Kjerulf Ainsworth, son of the company's founder Len Ainsworth and a significant minority shareholder in ATG, has voiced opposition to this potential action, asserting that it would contravene the interests of the company's existing shareholders. Ainsworth Speaks Against Novomatic’s Attempt for More Influence in ATG Ainsworth contends that such a move could prevent AGT shareholders from receiving acquisition offers and would solidify the current control by limiting the ability of potential buyers, including himself, to acquire shares. Furthermore, Ainsworth has raised concerns about AGT’s decision to withhold dividends since 2018, despite what he described as robust financial performance and revenue growth across all key markets. He acknowledged that AGT had cited various reasons for not distributing dividends during this period, such as prioritizing commercialization efforts and its financial standing. While recognizing the importance of sound capital management, he argued that the continued suspension of dividends, given the company's results, was difficult to justify. This also raises a pertinent question regarding whether AGT’s Board has adequately balanced reinvestment priorities with its obligation to deliver value to shareholders. These remarks follow Novomatic's unsuccessful attempt to acquire the remaining shares of ATG just a few months ago in February. Currently, Novomatic possesses approximately two-thirds of ATG. In comparison, Ainsworth's current shareholding in ATG is slightly over 8%. What Else Has Ainsworth Been Up to Recently? Challenging Novomatic's strategies is not the only recent activity for Ainsworth. He has also been actively campaigning for the return of former AGT CEO Lawrence Levy to the board as a non-executive director. If successful, this could grant Ainsworth considerable influence in the selection of a new CEO, following the recent departure of former chief executive Harald Neumann. Considering Ainsworth recently submitted an offer to purchase 5.5% of ATG’s ordinary shares at AUD 1.30 ($0.92) per share, this action could be interpreted as another tactic in the apparent power struggle between Novomatic and Ainsworth for control of the company. It is worth noting that if this bid is successful, Ainsworth's stake in the company would increase from 8.24% to 13.29%. According to Ainsworth, Levy possesses extensive institutional knowledge of AGT's operations, strategy, and governance structure. He further stated that Levy brings considerable industry experience, demonstrated leadership abilities, and a strong reputation for integrity and sound decision-making, having previously served as AGT's CEO between 2019 and 2021 before stepping down for personal reasons. In related news concerning Novomatic, Austrian prosecutors have recently filed accusations against former Novomatic executives in a bribery investigation. Among those accused are Harald Neumann, who was previously mentioned, and Johann Graf, the company's founder and owner. This article is provided by a third-party.

New Jersey Player Wins $4 Million, Yet Mega Millions Jackpot Still Unclaimed

(AsiaGameHub) -   A New Jersey ticket holder has secured a tantalizing $4 million win in the Mega Millions lottery. The main jackpot was not hit, offering participants another opportunity to win the top award this coming Friday. New Jerseyan Took Home $4M The Mega Millions jackpot rolled over again after Tuesday's drawing yielded no winner for the $120 million top prize. The upcoming Friday draw now presents a chance at an even larger grand prize. The numbers drawn on April 14 were 17, 21, 24, 57, and 69, with the gold Mega Ball 12. A player matching all six would have won $120 million through the annuity or a $53.5 million one-time cash payment. Although the jackpot went unclaimed, a New Jersey participant narrowly missed it by matching all five white numbers. This ticket earned a $4 million payout due to a 4x multiplier. Additionally, six other players won prizes by matching four white numbers plus the Mega Ball. Awards included one $20,000 prize (2x multiplier), three of $30,000 each (3x multiplier), and two $40,000 wins (4x multiplier). The jackpot for the next draw on Friday has grown to $130 million , with a cash value of $58 million. Two Mega Millions Jackpots Have Been Won in 2026 The most recent draw occurred after a quiet session on Friday, April 10, which also produced no major winners. It has been one month since the last Mega Millions jackpot was awarded. An Ohio player most recently captured the $60 million top prize on Saint Patrick’s Day. That victory occurred shortly after the first Mega Millions jackpot of 2026 was won. A life-altering $533 million prize was claimed by a player in Illinois, ending a multi-month jackpot drought. Washington DC bill proposes igaming legalization

(AsiaGameHub) -   The proposed Internet Gaming and Consumer Protection Act of 2026 would also prohibit sweepstakes casinos. US.- Legislation to legalize igaming in Washington DC has been introduced by Councilmember Wendell Felder. Along with legalizing online gaming, the Internet Gaming and Consumer Protection Act of 2026 would ban dual-currency gaming options and sweepstakes casinos. Felder maintains that residents are already participating in online slots and casino games through offshore, unregulated sites. He remarked that without a formal legal structure, these platforms function without adequate consumer safeguards, regulatory oversight, or age verification, creating hazards for the public and restricting the District's ability to intervene. He noted that the scale of this current activity is quite large. Felder stated: “This bill represents a realistic, data-driven strategy to bolster consumer protections, update our gaming laws, and capture tax revenue that is currently leaving the District.” This article is provided by a third-party.

Felicis 领投了 A 轮融资,First Round Capital 和 Brightmind 作为回投投资者参与。 Hirshberg 于六个月前与 CTO Dan Shiebler(前 Abnormal Security AI 负责人,早前是 Twitter 的机器学习负责人)共同创立了该公司。

Reservations for the new tower hotel at Coushatta Casino Resort are now being accepted

(AsiaGameHub) -   The Legacy Tower is scheduled to commence operations on May 18. US.- Louisiana's Coushatta Casino Resort is now taking bookings for its new Legacy Tower, with an opening date set for May 18. J.P.

GMG Doubles Energy Density of 6 Minute Charging Graphene Aluminium-Ion Battery

BRISBANE, AUS, Apr 15, 2026 - (ACN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - Graphene Manufacturing Group Ltd. (TSXV: GMG) (OTCQX: GMGMF) ("GMG" or the "Company") is pleased to provide the latest progress update on the Graphene Aluminium-Ion Battery technology ("G+A CELLS") being developed by GMG and the University of Queensland ("UQ") under a Joint Development Agreement with Rio Tinto, one of the world's largest metals and mining groups, and with the support of the Battery Innovation Center of Indiana ("BIC") in the United States of America. The GMG G+A CELLS have now demonstrated superior performance characteristics when compared to a representative market leading ultra-fast charging batteries, the Lithium Titanate Oxide ("LTO") batteries, which can be sold at a premium price of up to US$1200/kWh.1Figure 1 shows the current energy density of G+A CELLS, based on BIC testing, and shows the doubling in performance (26 to 49 Wh/kg) since the previous announcement in December 20252 and in comparison, to a representative market leading fast charging high power LTO batteries.Figure 1: Increase in Energy Density for G+A CELLS since December '25 UpdateTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_figure1.jpgFigure 2 shows the charge and discharge curves for the G+A CELLS when charged in 6 minutes (10C) and 60 minutes (1C). The energy density of the cells for the G+A CELLS when charged in 60 minutes (1C) is now 101 Wh/kg when charging to 100% State of Charge (SOC) which is an increase from 58 Wh/kg from the previous update. This shows the G+A CELLS have a nominal voltage of approximately 3.2 Volts (an increase from 3.0 Volts in the previous update). The G+A CELLS maintained performance over hundreds of cycles at 6-minute fast charging rate (10C).Figure 2: Battery performance curves of G+A CELLS at 60 min and 6min charge (1C & 10C)To view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_9a72ca9bb4963a29_001full.jpgBob Galyen, GMG Non-Executive Director and former CTO of CATL - the largest battery manufacturer in the world, commented: "With the possibility of charging from empty to full in around six minutes, this chemistry fundamentally changes how designers can think about electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and stationary storage. Instead of planning around long charge stops with large packs, engineers can optimise for rapid energy turnaround, with higher power, and safer, with GMG's battery made from abundant raw materials. Lithium-ion will remain a key part of the energy landscape for years to come, but its limitations in fast charging, temperature tolerance, and critical-mineral supply are increasingly evident. By leveraging aluminium and graphene, the GMG team is demonstrating a pathway to reduce reliance on traditional lithium-based systems and or combinatorial systems with multiple battery technologies while delivering step-change improvements in charge time and power density. This is not an incremental tweak to existing cells - it is a new platform that can open markets and use cases that were previously uneconomic or impractical. The companies that adapt quickest to this shift will lead the next wave of electrification, and GMG intends to be at the centre of that transition with graphene aluminium-ion technology."Standard commercial Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt ("LNMC") and Lithium Iron Phosphate ("LFP") battery cells for electric vehicles and stationary storage are NOT designed for continuous 6-minute charging (10C); typical recommended charge rates are ≤1 hour (1C), often 2 hours (0.5C), with only limited fast charge operation. Only specialized high-power cell designs like LTO battery cells can tolerate charge rates of 6 minutes (10C).3GMG has now developed a completely new hybrid electrolyte that is chloride free and non-corrosive, unlike common aluminium battery electrolytes, along with a complex cathode and anode technology that enables very stable fast charging over hundreds of cycles. The substrate for both the cathode and anode in the G+A CELLS is aluminium foil - which provides significant cost and weight savings compared with copper, the substrate material used in most lithium and sodium-ion batteries. GMG's technology does not include the use of lithium or copper. The Company has submitted an additional patent application covering these new developments.GMG believes that it has significantly met the key target specification requirements for use in heavy mobile equipment, as shown in Figure 3, its main targeted use case, including:- Charging in under 6 minutes;- Energy density > 100 Wh/kg after 1 hour of charging; and- Safe (no Lithium). The next battery development steps include the following activities:- Test and show cycle life up to 10,000 cycles- Test and show ambient temperature impacts- Test and show standard safety testing- Test and show no thermal battery management system needed  Figure 3: G+A CELLS Battery Use Case - heavy mobile equipmentTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_figure3.jpgCraig Nicol, GMG Managing Director and CEO, commented: "This is a significant step up from where we were at with battery performance in December 2025 and we see the required performance for our targeted use case being largely met - which means we can start to put together the next stages of the battery maturation program - including partnerships and manufacturing plans."GMG management believes that the G+A CELLS can eventually achieve over 160 Wh/kg when charged in 1 hour, and over 80 Wh/kg when charged in 6 minutes with further development of the cathode, anode, electrolyte and component weights.Figure 4 shows the latest G+A CELLS in pouch format:Figure 4: Current Multi-Layer G+A CELLTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_figure4.jpgBattery Technology Readiness LevelThe battery technology readiness level ("BTRL") of the G+A CELLS remains at Level 4, whilst significantly progressed through this level as shown in Figure 5. GMG is currently in the process of completing the optimization of the electrochemical behaviour for the pouch cells via ongoing laboratory experimentation. Through collaboration with BIC, it is anticipated that the battery technology readiness will ultimately progress to BTRL 7 and 8 since the equipment and processes needed to produce the G+A CELLS are the same as those employed to make Lithium-Ion Batteries, though no definitive timeline for achievement can be provided at this time.Figure 5: Battery Technology Readiness Level (BTRL)To view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_9a72ca9bb4963a29_004full.jpgThe Company is confident it can meet the overall timeline, as seen in Figure 6, of its battery cell roadmap that calls for testing of cells with customers in 2026 and small commercial production with support of various partners, including BIC, in 2027.Figure 6: Battery Cell RoadmapTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_9a72ca9bb4963a29_005full.jpgNext Steps Toward Commercialisation & Market ApplicationsJack Perkowski, GMG Non-Executive Chairman and Director, commented: "I am extremely proud that GMG has progressed its battery to this stage - the Company is getting very close to final commercialisation steps. We look forward to providing further updates as GMG progresses the development of its battery technology."The Company continues to see a broad range of potential applications for a completed G+A CELLS - utilising its ultra-high power-density and economic energy density characteristics. Along with Rio Tinto, a range of global companies have confidentially expressed their interest in working with GMG in the following vertical sectors:Figure 7: Market ApplicationsTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_9a72ca9bb4963a29_006full.jpgCurrently, GMG believes it will use a plastic battery pack design, similar to Figure 8, to hold the battery pouch cells - reducing the weight, cost and complexity relative to using a metal case. Using a plastic battery pack is possible for two main reasons - GMG believes that its battery will not require a thermal management system or the fireproofing precautions provided by the metal case in a lithium-ion battery. Using plastic will increase the comparative energy density of G+A CELL packs when compared to lithium-ion batteries.Figure 8: Expected Battery Pack for GMG's G+A CELLS Pouch FormatTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_9a72ca9bb4963a29_007full.jpgComparison and Market Review: LTO Batteries As shown in Figure 9 below, the performance of GMG's G+A CELL technology is already very similar to representative LTO batteries.Figure 9: Comparison of GMG's G+A CELLS to Lithium Titanate Oxide (LTO) BatteryTo view an enhanced version of this graphic, please visit:https://images.newsfilecorp.com/files/8082/292641_figure9.jpg LTO batteries are sold at a premium to LFP and LNMC batteries, which are the main chemistries used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems, and are also widely used in other electronic applications due to their high performance and long cycle life. The material and manufacturing costs for G+A CELLS are expected to be similar to, or less than, the cost to manufacture standard lithium-ion batteries, but substantially lower than the costs to produce LTO batteries.LTO batteries have energy density ranging from 50 - 80 Wh/kg.6 The LTO product is sold globally for use in many applications — with a total of US$5.67 billion sales per annum in 2025. Sales of LTO batteries are expected to grow at 16.9% per annum to an estimated US$ 12.5 billion by 2030. The major manufacturers of LTO batteries include Toshiba, Gree, Microvast and CATL.Further details on applications for the LTO battery from Mordor Intelligence7 are described below. In many of the use cases for LTO batteries, GMG believes that its G+A CELLS can be substituted at a substantially lower cost.Commercial Vehicles: Automotive, primarily buses, refuse trucks, and drayage tractors rather than passenger cars, is the largest user of LTO batteries. Fleets realize five-year total-cost-of-ownership parity once fuel savings and lower maintenance offset higher upfront prices.Fast-charging Electric Buses and Trucks: Transit authorities need battery systems that accept repeated high-power "opportunity charges" during short layovers. LTO cells replenish 80% capacity in roughly five minutes, allowing operators to shrink fleet size without sacrificing route frequency. U.S. Low-No Emission Bus grants earmark more than US$1.5 billion per year, with bid specifications that explicitly reference rapid-charge capability. Parallel subsidy programs in China reimburse up to CNY 80,000 (US$ 11,396) per new-energy bus, accelerating volume deployment in provincial capitals.Hybrid and BEV: Regenerative braking and high-C-rate acceleration favour the use of LTO batteries. Use in fast-charge EV stations is growing rapidly as ride-hailing fleets adopt swap-ready models.Stationary Storage: Utility-scale batteries now cycle multiple times per day for frequency regulation, peak shaving, and voltage support. Energy-storage-system integrators adopt LTO batteries for grid-frequency response where state-of-charge swings are shallow but frequent.Industrial Robotics: LTO batteries are used in continuous-duty forklifts that require partial charges during operator breaks.Aerospace and Defense: Unmanned aerial vehicles, missile auxiliaries, and soldier-worn power banks operating from -40 °C to +60 °C ambient.5-minute Battery-Swap Stations: Battery-as-a-service platforms require ultra-fast turnaround and high cycle life. CATL confirmed plans to install 1,000 swap stations in 2025 and 30,000-40,000 by 2030, each requiring packs that tolerate thousands of rapid exchanges without degradation.Sub-10 kWh Packs: Cordless construction tools, autonomous ground vehicles, and medical carts select LTO batteries to bypass daily pack swaps.12V starter replacement to Lead acid: GMG's G+A CELLS battery technology would be a viable 12 V starter-battery replacement for lead-acid, offering lower weight, longer cycle life, good low-temperature performance and improved cold-cranking capability, together with excellent tolerance to storage at 0% state of charge. In suitable system designs, the chemistry's stable voltage behaviour can also reduce balancing requirements and simplify battery management, helping to lower overall system cost.Lifecycle Procurement Preference: Many government procurement frameworks now weigh lifecycle reliability higher than purchase price. For example, New Mexico awarded a US$ 400 million bus electrification contract that included stringent thermal-runaway resistance metrics. Europe's Clean Industrial Deal allocates capital for storage technologies that stabilize renewables, aligning well with LTO batteries' fast-response profile.Cylindrical Cells: accounted for 37.7% of LTO battery sales in 2024 as entrenched production lines and robust steel casings satisfied heavy-duty demand. Pouch designs address aerospace weight requirements and constrained dashboards in autonomous robots.Summary of Important Milestones for GMG's G+A CELLS Development: MonthImportant Milestones in the Navigating Regulatory Compliance with Alberta’s New Dual Licensing Compliance Burden

(AsiaGameHub) -   Over the past three years or so, the ‘Ontario Model’ set the benchmark for familiar, comfortable regulatory standards. Operators had grown accustomed to the AGCO’s Registrar’s Standards, and the iGaming Ontario (iGO) revenue-sharing structure became a regular entry in every quarterly financial report. But as Dale Nally, Alberta’s Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, approaches the Q3 20206 “Go-Live” deadline, the industry is waking up to the fact that Alberta is rolling out an Ontario 2.0—meaning things are likely to get a bit more complex. Alberta’s Hybrid Regulatory Approach Alberta, often referred to as the ‘Wild West,’ has long favored a distinct approach to regulation. Its proposed framework suggests a hybrid model aimed at balancing private operators’ commercial ambitions with the province’s longstanding charitable gaming sector. Unlike Ontario, which eliminated its grey market via a large-scale shift to regulated platforms, Alberta faces a unique ‘Data Silo’ challenge. Operators seeking a license from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) are discovering the province requires local server hosting and specific responsible gaming measures that differ greatly from Ontario’s requirements. This results in a ‘dual licensing’ scenario where compliance isn’t just about executing a national Canadian strategy—it’s about navigating a patchwork of provincial rules. The Compliance Burden As of February 2026, Canada’s FINTAC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada) implemented new regulations for reporting digital assets and high-value wagers. This means operators must adopt a KYC (Know Your Customer) process robust enough to function across multiple provinces. Players crossing provincial borders should be able to transition smoothly from one jurisdiction’s rules to another. Complying with these requirements won’t come cheap, and as the Canadian market becomes increasingly fragmented, operators face greater difficulty understanding safety and operational standards across different regions. For insight into how Alberta’s entry criteria compare to global standards, many turn to platforms that review top online casinos—these sites offer detailed data on safety ratings, regulatory compliance, and market feedback. In the initial three years of regulation, geofencing was a top priority for many operators. Ontario’s poker and daily fantasy sports markets were limited to a pool of roughly 15 million users, which posed a liquidity crisis for high-volume operators. But in November 2025, the Ontario Court of Appeal issued a landmark decision in Reference re iGaming Ontario. The court ruled that Section 207 of the Criminal Code— which requires provinces to conduct and manage gaming within their borders—does not prevent Ontario from allowing players from international jurisdictions. The Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) Factor Adding to the pressure is the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA). Operators using AI for risk modeling or player matching in Canada must now provide an immutable audit trail for their AI systems. Meanwhile, in Alberta’s emerging market, the AGLC has indicated it won’t use its Red Tape Reduction authority to relax standards—instead, it will automate them. Operators are encouraged to adopt Agentic Compliance, which uses AI tools to automate required processes and report directly to relevant regulatory bodies. Although automation will cut down on manual paperwork, it brings a new challenge: ‘Algorithmic Liability.’ AI systems must have the immutable, auditable trail mentioned earlier and cannot be ‘black boxes’—their decision-making logic must be explainable. Building Resilience is Essential So, how can operators enter the Alberta market? Many are turning to interoperability and building ‘Modular Compliance Stacks’ as solutions. Rather than hardcoding software for a specific location, operators can develop ‘Compliance Middleware’ that switches between AGLC and AGCO rules based on the user’s geographic location. This strategy recognizes that while the Canadian market remains profitable, it’s no longer a one-size-fits-all landscape. By March 2026, geofencing technology has become obsolete. Ontario is actively forging ‘Liquidity Compacts’ with European and UK regulators, allowing Toronto-based players to join virtual poker tables with users in London or Madrid—all while remaining under Canadian regulatory oversight. Alberta hasn’t hesitated to follow Ontario’s lead. Minister Nally has stated that the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) is being designed with ‘Liquidity Interoperability’ as a core principle. Alberta aims to be more than an isolated market—it wants to serve as the Western anchor for the Pan-Canadian Liquidity Agreement. Trust as the Ultimate Currency The current compliance pressures are growing pains for a more resilient and trustworthy market. Back in 2022, geofencing and KYC were key concerns; by 2026, the dialogue has shifted to global liquidity, AI ethics (under AIDA), and Indigenous partnerships. Operators that thrive in Alberta’s upcoming launch will be those that see compliance not as a roadblock, but as an integral part of their offering. By adopting the ‘Audit-Ready’ culture of 2026, operators compliant with Canadian rules may find it easier to expand internationally and gain the trust of a safer-feeling audience.
